Day Two

Okay, some good news and some bad news. Good news: her ears are checking out good. She has some drainage but no build up. Bad news: we are going to be there until Friday for sure. Yuck! She is handling everything very well. We found a playroom this morning so that made her pretty happy and we capped off her IV so she can roam freely. Thanks so much for caring about her! It means a lot!

Mallory does not like anyone who enters the room pulling the Vitals cart behind them. The blood pressure is probably the worst one for her.

Since we capped her IV she has to have it "flushed" every 8 hours. This is her reaction when they do that.

Day One

The surgery went well. The tube in her left ear was totally plugged so they took it out completely. The tube in her right ear was loose so they adjusted that. Everything looks good so far. She's had her first dose of antibiotics and is resting. Thanks to all of you for your calls and concern. We'll keep you updated!

This is Mallory before her surgery. We were the "geeks" of the waiting room. She insisted on wearing her sandals over her slippers.

This is Mallory after the surgery in recovery.

Prayers for Mallory

Some of you may be aware of what we have been dealing with the last year but if you are not, Mallory has recurring ear infections. At this point we have decided to admit her to the hospital on Tuesday for IV antibiotics so we can hopefully kick this once and for all. This will be a 2 to 5 day stay, depending on how she responds to the medicine. Please pray for patience as this will be needed by her and myself. I will try and update while we are there.

Lazy Days

I couldn't ignore the blistering temperatures today so I indulged the kids with their kiddie pool. Obviously it was a big hit. I think that Mallory enjoyed it the most.

Graduation Day

I can't believe that my oldest has completed preschool. Now to some that may not seem like a big deal but you'll understand once you go through it. She's grown a lot in this year and it's been wonderful to see the changes. Although we've had some struggles (clothes, mood swings, what to bring for snack) it's been a fun ride. Here are some pics of the momentous event. Most annoying moment of the night: Loryn having to go potty. She made sure that I felt embarassed enough to take her out by announcing it to everyone around us.

What Kids Say

I was once again reminded of how innocent children can be. When I picked Maddy up from school yesterday her teacher questioned me as to what Jason does for a living. It seems that Maddy was under the impression that Jason works at a "circus". But in reality he is simply working in Holland during Tulip Time. We went out to visit him on Monday and partake in the festivities of greasy fried food and cotton candy. Here are some other great quotes from the kids:
- "Logyn, Mommy try to choke us!" Reality: I was driving a little too fast and had to hit the brakes rather hard.
- "Mommy, that lady running! She go "huh, huh"". Apparently Loryn is under the impression that people who run are deep breathers.
- "My mommy works for money to put in my penny bank." This is Maddy's explanation as to why I work. She doesn't quite understand it's more of a sanity issue.

Rainy Day

Why is it children act so weird when it rains? All I want to accomplish is some simple organizing. Is that possible? No! Mallory feels the need to crawl on my desk, help herself to a Sharpie marker and draw in my book that belongs to the local library. Not only that she colors on her hand and my desk. Then while I'm cleaning that up she wanders into my bedroom with Logyn and they help themselves to the clothes and shoes that I recently purchased for the kids. The tags are off and things are out of boxes and the little silica patches that come with shoes are open. Nice! Somedays I just want to crawl back in bed!
